Dear Sir,
I send you this message because I need your help. I am from Cameroon. I have written a book to be published in the comming weeks. Its title in french is "LE KAMERUN ALLEMAND (12 JUILLET 1884 - 18 FEVRIER 1916". It deals with the german colonial rule in Kamerun. It will have about 640 pages.
To make it easily readable, I need a lot of images to illustrate it. I have already got some pictures. The favour I want to ask you is if you would be kind enough as to allow me to use for free about 12 images published in late Governor Theodor SEITZ,s book "Vom aufsstieg und niederbruch deutscher Kolonialmacht" band 1 and band 2? If I ask you this favour, its because I am a retired public servant, Journalist by profession. I have used all my savings to travel twice to Europe from Cameroon to collect all the documents I needed to write the book, the aim of which is to save what can be saved of the vestiges of this historical past between our 2 countries. All my efforts to obtain some financial help from my government to that purpose has been of no avail. Presently the manuscript is ready in a publishing house but the sum needed to publish it amount at about 13 500 Euro for 2 000 copies.
I Think you understand better why I cannot pay for the copyright on the above mentioned images from SEITZ´s book, because at this stage the manuscript has cost me about 6 000 Euro.
